Korban Serangan Kapal Bantuan Gaza Bertambah 15

YERUSALEM - Jumlah korban akibat serangan pasukan Israel terhadap kapal yang membawa bantuan ke Gaza bertambah menjadi 15 orang. Serangan ini sempat mendapatkan perlawan dari aktivis pro-Palestina yang berada di atas kapal.

Kapal yang membawa bantuan kemanusiaan tersebut terdiri dari konvoi kecil yang terdiri dari enam kapal. Konvoi ini dipimpin oleh sebuah kapal milik Turki Mavi Marmara yang membawa 600 penumpang, yang terdiri dari para aktivis termasuk peraih nobel perdamaian dan beberapa pejabat pemerintahan negara Eropa.

Serangan yang berakibat tewasnya 15 orang ini, terjadi saat pasukan Israel memotong jalur pelayaran dari kapal bantuan tersebut. Televisi 10 Israel yang menayangkan operasi tersebut, memperlihatkan pasukan Israel yang turun dari helikopter menuju kapal-kapal kecil yang berisi bantuan pada saat kondisi gelap.

Seperti dilansir Reuters, Senin (31/5/2010), dua korban tewas diketahui berada di kapal Turki Mavi Marmara, namun identitas korban tewas tersebut hingga kini masih belum diketahui. Konvoi kapal tersebut berangkat dari perairan Siprus dengan tujuan ke Gaza.

Pihak Israel melalui Menteri Industri dan Perdagangan Binyamin Ben-Eliezer menyatakan penyesalan mereka atas korban tewas dalam operasi di kapal yang hendak menyalurkan bantuan kemanusiaan menuju Gaza. (faj)
